Will you marry... us?
One of the most important tasks of planning a wedding that is not taking place within a church is planning the actual ceremony. When I think about actually exchanging the vows we will write for each other to officially become husband and wife, absolutely everything else pales in comparison. And in addition to the vows, we want every part of the ceremony to feel intimate for us and our guests.
And a huge part of that was deciding who we wanted to marry us. And when David suggested that we ask one of our closest friends (not Joey Tribbiani), it made complete sense. And it felt even more perfect to ask his wife co-officiant with him! Both of them are two of our closest friends, had been there since day one of our relationship because we all worked together at the job where I met David, and they actually started dating each other the same month as us. No one has seen our relationship unfold the way they had, so we know they will be able to help us find the perfect words to describe that relationship before our family and friends during our ceremony.
Asking them to be such an integral part of our day meant so much to us, and I wanted to find a special way to ask them such an important question. So, much like the bridesmaid pinatas that asked Will you be my bridesmaid? when popped, I created a box that released a balloon to be popped. And once popped, the contents inside asked the BIG question… not will you marry me, but Will you marry… us?
