First Famsgiving

Famsgiving Fall Dinner Decor | Sugar & Gold

Still recovering from the excitement of the wedding and honeymoon, David and I wanted to spend our first Thanksgiving as a family—husband, wife, and Bananas—at home,  just the three of us rather than traveling over the holiday weekend.

We usually host a Friendsgiving every year with our closest friends in Chicago the weekend before Thanksgiving, but this year we decided to skip it since it was so close after the wedding. But even though we wouldn't be creating holiday decor for Friendsgiving this year, I still wanted to create a special setting for us to enjoy our meal together in honor of our First Famsgiving.

The table we painted for our wedding entrance has since become our dining table so there was special meaning attached to it. We repurposed the "Mr" and "Mrs" cloth banners from our wedding on the backs of our chairs, as well as other pieces from our wedding decor. And my favorite feature was a fallen tree branch that I found down the street... I suspended it from our ceiling and hung small mason jar lanterns from it for very ethereal lighting.

It was the perfect way to give thanks for everything the year had given us.
